About Camp Lael
Camp Lael is located seven miles northwest of Lapeer in Oregon Township on 240 acres of wooded hills. Fields and open areas lend to spectacular views of the landscape. The camps structure emphasizes small groups, dividing sleeping areas into three villages, with cabins, meeting lodge, and bathhouse. Each cabin sleeps 12 and has electricity and heat. Camp Lael accommodates 175 people at once, providing program space, food service and recreation.
Located on quiet Skinner Lake, the camp offers swimming and boating as well as a network of trails on 160 acres of undisturbed woods and wildlife perfect for nature enthusiasts and mountain bikers. We are available to a variety of church, school and community groups, for summer camp, winter weekends, ecology programs, and retreats.
We are available for rent through out the year. Whether you are a small group of 10, or one numbering over 100, Camp Lael may have a spot for you. Give us a call and tell us your needs.
The Lael facility is owned by the American Baptist Churches of Michigan. Together we offer a summer camp program for children and youth ages 5-17 during the months of June and July. This program is licensed by the State of Michigan. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and have experienced a weeklong training program.
"Lael" is a Hebrew word and means "belonging to God". Our desire is for all to know God and experience His wonderful creation. Camp Lael is perfect for that experience!
The Camp Lael motto is "Do not let the world around you squeeze you into its mold."
